Daisy Bates helped start one of the first African American Newspapers which was dedicated to civil rights. Also, she was president of the Little Rock chapter of NAACP. Her chapter played a vital role in abolishing segregation in schools. They organized the Little Rock Nine, group of African American students who integrated Central High School. The State of Arkansas recognizes the third Monday in February ad Daisy Bates day, which is today. Happy Daisy Bates Day!
